Base bleed grains
 |
EURENCO offers a large range of base
bleed grains ready to be fitted onto various artillery
shells:
105 mm OE, LP G1,
122 mm HELR, HE BB,
130 mm HE M46,
155 mm LU 111 BB, LU 211 BB, OGRE G1, ICM 864, ERFB BB (NR
265, NR 268), HEER, TKR 88BB, etc.

The base bleed principle consists of reducing low-pressure drag at the
base of the artillery shells through the combustion of
a propellant grain. In this way, projectile range
could be enhanced up to 30% without reduction in accuracy, inherent in
other existing range-enhancing systems.
EURENCO also provides associated ignition systems.
Thanks to its know-how and experience acquired in the field of solid
propulsion, EURENCO develops and produces a wide range of base bleed units
through pressing technology; gas generators are composite pressed solid
propellant grains, the part touching the metallic portion of the shell's
inner wall is inhibited.
Dimensions and grain compositions are adapted to every specific case:
today, EURENCO is able to answer any customer demand to improve range
and accuracy of artillery shells by providing the most suitable base bleed
grain type.
Developed for artillery ammunition, base bleed grains units
bring numerous advantages:
Adaptation of the grain geometry to all different shell types,
High level of mechanical properties,
Small humidity influence,
Good aging,
Low vulnerability,
Excellent grain homogeneity.
