end users have supported long-term customer-based product development
at EURENCO.
EURENCO is thus able to provide not only standard single
base propellants but also tailor-made ones: each propellant
manufactured bears the result of development in close cooperation
with customers to satisfy the most stringent requirements.
Single base propellants composition
The main component of single base propellants
is nitrocellulose (90 - 98%).
Various additives such as stabilizers, deterrents for surface treatment,
flame reducing agents and ballistic modifiers are added as required.
Energetic substances can also be added for enhanced performance.

EURENCO single base propellants are smokeless, clean
burning, residue free and low corrosive.
Most of single base propellants manufactured are surface
treated to achieve progressive burning behavior; the surface treatment
of the propellant leads to maximum ballistic performance
with clean-burning, complete combustion and reduces chamber pressure,
flame temperature and barrel wear, thus granting a longer service life
for weapons.
The deterrent coating used on small caliber powders is developed to give
optimal ballistic performance with consistent results even under severe
environmental conditions, without deterrent migration or evaporation.
The hard graphite coating eliminates static electricity, improves the
bulk density and makes handling and loading of powders easy, precise and
as safe as possible.

Single base propellants for medium caliber
ammunition (from 20 mm to 57 mm) are produced. These are

In some medium caliber ammunition, ballistic performance is limited by
the propellant volume in the cartridge case. This limits velocity and
terminal ballistics at long range. In order to increase range and performance
of these kinds of munitions, EURENCO also manufactures extruded impregnated
propellants.
Large caliber ammunition

EURENCO also manufactures a large array of single base propellants
for tank and field artillery ammunition, from 76
mm to 203 mm. Here are some examples of applications:

Mortar ammunition
EURENCO produces a scope of single base propellants for mortar increments
used for 60mm, 81mm and 120mm mortar ammunition.
Igniters
EURENCO offers a wide range of single base propellants to ignite
medium and large caliber ammunition:
Extruded single base propellants (porous or not); made from
nitrocellulose, these single base propellants (BS,
CBI…) are manufactured as cylindrical grains, strands and disks,
